1979 TO PRESENT

2023 is gone. We’ve learned much about ourselves, life, love, and living. This year should be full of promises and big dreams for all of us. We should fully understand that we are all connected, and there aren’t many things that separate us…other than those things that we allow to separate us.

I do believe and always will that music will be the thing that saves us all. Music brings us closer to some very deep emotions, both good and not-so-good. If used properly, music can evoke love, laughter, joy, togetherness, positivity, happy tears, and, most importantly, empathy. Hopefully, we will take hold of the goodness of life and music and enjoy every moment possible.

May 1979 to present

2023

I toured with Nile Rodgers and Chic, which is always amazing. I’m working with an incredible community organization from my old neighborhood. Mental Health Advocate and Fitness Trainer Khayan Reed and Producer/Director Travis Harris started a program called Monday Monday. It is a bi-weekly meeting/roundtable comprised of young men from the surrounding community…a safe space to discuss topics that help them to grow. Everyone attending is given dinner, paid for by Khayan and Travis, and donations from restaurants when they can. I’ve donated as much as humanly possible to their cause. The roundtable also gives these young men a platform to speak without judgment and on many different topics. I wish this were around when I was coming up. My goal is to help them build their organizations on a national platform. Manday Monday can change the course of how these young men think about themselves, their families, and their communities.

I am one of the directors of an organization conceived and developed by Dr. Tanya Trippett. Wish4life.org is an incredible charity that is raising funds to build a pediatric cancer hospital in Ghana. I am so honored to be a part of this amazing organization, and global participation has grown beyond belief. You can go to the website and donate to this beautiful cause.
